CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Mayor Kim McMillan directs that the U.S., State and City flags be flown at half-staff at all City of Clarksville workplaces and amenities.
This is consistent with the Presidential proclamation issued Monday afternoon to fly the U.S. Flag at half-staff as a mark of respect for U.S. Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who died Saturday. The flags will stay at half-staff until McCain’s interment.
Here is the Presidential proclamation:

As a mark of respect for the reminiscence and long-standing service of Senator John Sidney McCain III, I hereby order, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the legal guidelines of the United States of America, that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all army posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government within the District of Columbia and all through the United States and its Territories and possessions until sundown, on the day of interment.
I additionally direct that the flag shall be flown at half employees for a similar interval at all United States embassies, legations, consular workplaces, and different amenities overseas, together with all army amenities and naval vessels and stations.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I’ve hereunto set my hand this twenty-seventh day of August, within the yr of our Lord two thousand eighteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the 2 hundred and forty-third.
